Wishart Name Meaning

Scottish (of Norman origin): from the Anglo-Norman French form, Wischard, of the Old French personal name Guiscard. This was formed in Normandy from the Old Norse elements viskr ‘wise’ + hard ‘hardy’, ‘brave’, ‘bold’ (or possibly the Old French suffix -ard). Compare the French cognate Guiscard.

Hi! I created the companion category for your name study (Category:Wishart Name Study). Feel free to edit it. The default for the template is to add the main category, but you can add a line to have a different category. See the ONS template page for details. Give me a holler if you have any questions about categorization.

I also created a redirect, so Project:Wishart (the link for the button from the Wishart surname page) brings you to this page.

Cheers, Liz
